A Grok prompt generator turns a plain goal into a prompt with an explicit task, stated constraints, and a specified tone and output format. Grok defaults to a conversational register, so prompts that name the register they want — and the exact shape of the answer — get far more usable results.
How Grok prompts differ
- Tone is a setting you should choose: Left unspecified, the default is chatty and informal. If you want plain, neutral or technical, say so — it is one clause and it changes the whole answer.
- Direct framing works well: Short, unhedged instructions land better than elaborate scene-setting. State the job, the constraints and the format.
- Ask for the caveats you want: If you need the uncertainty flagged, ask for it explicitly: "mark anything you are not confident about". Otherwise confident phrasing is the default.
- Recency needs to be requested: If the answer depends on current information, say that it must, and ask what the answer is based on.
Techniques that work
- Name the register in one clause. "Tone: neutral and technical, no jokes" is enough to change the entire response.
- Give the output a skeleton. Listing the sections you want is the single most reliable way to stop a conversational model from rambling.
- Separate opinion from fact. Asking it to label which parts are its judgement makes an opinionated answer far more usable.
- Cap the length. A word count or item limit is a genuine constraint. Without one, longer is the default.

Scenario: Assume I cannot get more information before deciding. Task: Tone is plain and direct. Under 300 words. End with a single sentence beginning "Recommendation:" and state the strongest argument against your own recommendation immediately after it.
