A Gemini prompt generator turns a plain-language goal into a prompt shaped the way Google's prompt design guide recommends: clear, specific instructions, stated constraints and output format, the context Gemini can't know, and a few examples of the answer you want. How Gemini prompts differ

  • Examples are the default, not an extra: Google's guide recommends always including few-shot examples and says prompts without them are likely to be less effective. It also warns that too many examples can make the model overfit to them, so use a few with consistent formatting.
  • Gemini 3 is brief unless you ask otherwise: Google notes that Gemini 3 models give direct, efficient answers by default. If you want a detailed or conversational response, you must ask for it explicitly — length, tone and audience included.
  • Long context first, the question last: For large inputs, Google advises supplying all the context first and putting your specific instructions or question at the end, linked with a phrase such as "Based on the information above…".
  • No need to ask it to show its reasoning: Because Gemini 3 models reason internally, Google says it is generally not necessary to have the model outline or detail its reasoning steps in the response. Spend those words on the task instead.

Techniques that work

  • State constraints and the response format. Say how long, in what shape (table, list, one paragraph) and what to leave out. Google lists constraints and response format as core parts of a clear prompt.
  • Add the context Gemini can't know. Google's own example: a generic troubleshooting question gets generic advice, while the same question with the device's manual in the prompt gets a specific answer. Paste the source instead of describing it.
  • Start the answer to steer its format. Ending your prompt with the start of the output — the first line of an outline, or a labeled field — lets Gemini complete it in that shape. For complex JSON through the API, Google recommends structured output instead.
  • Split big jobs into steps. Google suggests one prompt per instruction, chaining prompts so one output feeds the next, or running parts in parallel and combining the results. PromptVibe Chains runs that pattern for you.
  • Developers: leave sampling settings alone. Google's guidance is to keep temperature, top_p and top_k at their defaults for Gemini 3 models, and its newest models ignore custom values for them. Change the prompt, not the dials.
